These are the very first words of my new blog. So, what do I hope to achieve with these posts?
First and foremost, I want to give readers the chance to follow along on my journey into astronomy. Maybe you’ll learn from the mistakes I’ve made, share in the excitement I still feel every time I set up my gear, or simply gain another perspective from someone walking a similar path. Clear nights are rare — if reading about a second set of experiences helps make the most of yours, even better.
Secondly, this blog is a place to share my images with friends, family, and anyone else who’s curious. Sometimes you’ll see more than one version of the same shot — I’m still finding my way with post-processing, which remains a tricky beast. Feel free to leave your thoughts — your feedback helps guide my future work.
Lastly, this space is also a kind of diary for myself. Years down the line, it’s easy to forget the conditions, challenges, or insights behind a single image. What worked? What didn’t? What did I learn that night? That’s why I believe in keeping a night sky journal — for memory, growth, and perspective.
To end with a favorite quote by Carl Sagan (1994):
„It’s been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience.“
Clear skies,
Chris
